In many places of
business, the foyer or lobby area, is considered nothing more than a necessary
passageway to where the business is conducted. Often it is little more
than a place for visitors to wipe their feet. Not so, in a well designed
funeral home.
The foyers in both of
our locations are a very important part of our buildings. They are the
first place a person enters and experiences our surroundings. They are the
place where visitors become "climatized" to the funeral home, which
sets the tone for the entire visit. Foyers should provide our visitors
with a sense of who we are, and the service we provide. That is why, in
our funeral homes, the foyers are open and spacious enough to be more than
just entranceways.
They are a place where
families can meet and greet their friends prior to a service beginning, if they
so wish. They are a place where people can sit and collect their
thoughts. They are also areas that we utilize for overflow, where people
can sit or stand for largely attended prayer services or funerals.
The furnishings in our
foyer or lobby areas include love seats, chairs, end tables register book stand,
silk plants, and donation desk. They also inlclude coat racks, and boot
trays. Lighting is bright, yet soft, and consists of table lamps and
ceiling mounted hanging fixtures (similar to those in the main chapels).
On the walls are pictures, our establishment licenses and signage indicating
that "our price lists are available upon request".
Our foyers also
lead directly to the main chapels, the business offices, arrangement offices and
the hallways to the visitation rooms. While we endevour to meet our
visitors at the door, we also have clear signage with arrows, and a directory
board so that people know where to go. When a person first enters the
funeral home, they can immediately see where the chapel is, where the offices
are, where they can make a donation, and where the visitation rooms are.
In our funeral homes, the foyer areas are a great deal more than just a place to
wipe your feet. Stop by for a visit, and you'll appreciate our pride in
our facilities.
