 EVEREST OF THUNDER BAY
Caring When You Need It Most

1. Must I select funeral merchandise?

- Yes.  Whether is be burial or cremation, there are several decisions that must be made with regards to funeral merchandise by the family.  There must be a casket or container selected, in which your loved one's body will be either buried or cremated.  If the final disposition is burial, a decision to use, or not to use, a vault must be made, and if a vault is decided upon, then which one?  In the case of cremation, what container are the cremated human remains to be returned in from the crematorium?  There are also silk casket sprays, keepsake urns, and other miscellaneous merchandise for the family to consider.

2. Must I go into the selection room to make my decisions?

- No you do not.  For those who are physically unable to go into the selction room, or are uncomfortable with the room, selections can be made from a catologue or pictures.  Eventually most of our merchandise will also be displayed on our website, to further assist people is making their selections.  However, we do reccommend that people make an effort to see the actual product, so that they are fully aware of what they are purchasing.  We do not want any family to be disappointed in their selection, simply because they did not have the opportunity to see the "real" product.  We will stay with you, and make your visit to our display area as "painless" as possible.

3. Why are the cremation products and regular caskets all together in the same room?

- Some funeral homes do have different rooms for burial and cremation products.  However, that requires additional space which cannot be used for other purposes.  We have also found that families often desire a larger selection, rather than our making the determination which merchandise is best suited for them.  Some burial families like the simpler cremation-type containers, some cremation families prefer the more traditional caskets.  By having everything in the same room, it keeps all the family's options in front of them.  However, your funeral director will explain the different products and which ones are intended for which purpose.

4. Can I see the selection room before the need arises?

- Of course you can - we encourage it.  Whether you want to prearrange, or simply look around, our selection rooms are available for your inspection anytime.  In fact, the selection room at our Westfort Chapel was placed in the main public area, and the lights are always one, and one door open, when we have services and visitations.  This makes it even easier for people to go in and just look around.

We hope that we have answered some of your questions.  If you have any further questions or comments, please do not hesitate to call us at either of our 2 convenient locations.
