As part of our normal notifications of death, we also notify Canada Customs and Revenue Agency - GST Credits of the death.  This is one of the reasons why we require the deceased's Social Insurance Number.

          Not every person is eligible for a GST Credit, and the surviving family may not know if their loved one was receiving it.  Likewise, the various departments within the levels of government do not always share information in a timely manner.  That is why we automatically notify each department separately.

          If GST Credit cheques continue to arrive, do not spend them without contacting Canada Customs and Revenue first.  They are located at 130 South Syndicate Avenue, and their number is807-623-1047, or you can use their wesite at www.ccra-adrc.gc.ca.
