 EVEREST OF THUNDER BAY
Caring When You Need It Most

Both of our facilities provide plenty of off-street and on-street parking which is second to none in Thunder Bay.  We can assure you that the number of vehicles that we state below, is legitimate.  Many businesses make claims about their amount of  parking, but we can verify our statements.

Furthermore, we go to great lengths to ensure the cleanliness of our lots, and keep them clear of snow and ice in the winter.  While this costs a great deal of money, it is part of our commitment to our clients to provide a safe enviroment.

the "Waverley Chapel":

Being built on the side of a hill, at a time when very few people owned cars, does pose some challenges for providing easy accessible parking today.  However, we have been successful in this endevour, and are proud of the results.

- Front and Side Driveways - Our driveways are accessible either from Algoma or Waverley Streets, and can accommodate 12-15 vehicles for come-and-go parking.  For funerals, when everyone is leaving at the same time, we can line-up nearly 25 vehicles in our front and side driveways - this is where we put the family and pallbearer vehicles.

- Lower Parking Lot - Our actual parking lot is located at the bottom of the hill, directly behind the chapel, and is accessible from Park Avenue.  There is a staircase which brings people to our side driveway on the upper level.  For casual parking we can easily accommodate 30 vehicles, and for funerals we have had well over 40.

- On-Street Parking - For come-and-go purposes, especially for those who have a difficulty with stairs, there is ample on street parking around the funeral home.  Within a hundred yards of our front door, there is parking for well over 20 cars, and for funeral purposes we can increase that by another 10 by "legally" double-parking cars on Waverley Street in front of the chapel.  While some of these spots do have parking meters, the meters are not applicable after 5:00 pm and on Sundays.  Furthermore, for services during the day, we place reserved-parking hoods on the meters so that visitors need not pay for the parking.

the "Westfort Chapel":

Our Westfort Chapel was built from the ground-up as a funeral home, and as such, parking was a major consideration, not just an afterthought.  The ease of access to our property, and future expansion of both the building and the parking was an important issue when we were selecting a site.  We think you will be pleased with the results.

- Parking Lot - Our current parking facilities extend around the entire funeral home, and can easily be accessed from Gore Street.  For casual come-and-go parking, we can easily accommodate 60 cars.  When vehicles are lined-up bumper to bumper for services (when everyone leaves at the same time) we can easily handle close to 100 cars.  While our rear properties are not yet paved, when they are dry they currently allow for another 30-40 cars.  As revenues increase and money is available, the back lots will also become a paved addition to our existing parking.

- On-Street Parking - There are no parking meters on Gore Street, therefore on-street parking is free.  Directly in front of our building, on our side of Gore, there is angle parking for 10 vehicles.  Across the street is parrallel parking for another 8-10 cars.  On Gore Street across James, is additional on-street parallel parking.

- Mount McKay Plaza - The tenants of the plaza rely on their limited parking for their customers.  Therefore, THERE IS NO FUNERAL HOME PARKING ALLOWED IN THE PLAZA PARKING LOT DURING THE DAY.  However, after hours (ie: evening visitations) our clients can use the south end of the plaza lot.

Thank you for visiting our web-site and touring through our facilites.
