As an alternative to purchasing a casket, some families are requesting a rental casket. Since March 1991, we have offered rental or "chapel" caskets designed to meet these requests.  Chapel caskets do not eliminate the cost of a casket, they sinmply allow the family to use a better unit for the price of purchasing a lesser quality casket or container.

          Some rental caskets are a specifically crafted unit that facilitates an inner container to hold the body, with the casket itself acting as a "shell" around the container making it suitable for public gatherings and viewing.  Other rental caskets, such as the ones we currently use are standard caskets where the bedding and pillow are replaced after use.  

         After the funeral service, the funeral director removes the body from the rental casket and transports it for burial or cremation in the inner container or another container as selected by the family.           

          The outer casket is reused for a number of services.  However, to reduce the visible wear and tear on the casket, the use of chapel caskets is limited to gatherings and services held in the funeral home.  THEY CANNOT LEAVE OUR PREMISES.  Eventually the casket reaches a point of wear, at which point it is destroyed and replaced with a new one. Because its usage is limited, the rental casket is replaced after a relatively small number of uses.  However, due to the reusable nature of these units, they can be also appreciated by families with environmental concerns.

          With our chapel caskets, we have chosen to use traditional solid oak caskets which sell for a much higher price.  If you are comparing rental fees elsewhere, be sure to ascertain what quality of casket the other firm is using, and what the difference is, between their rental cost and purchase price.  You'll find that our's give much more value for the dollars spent.   

          Please note:  Because manufacturers do alter their product lines, and quality photos of all their caskets are not available, pictures may not be exactly the same as the actual product.  They are however, a proper representation of the quality and appearance of the actual casket.
